Ok, about a week ago I started to try overclocking and I flashed my 7900GTX with the unlocked BIOS, I then used ATI tool to test different speeds and found one that works pretty well. It was only applied for maybe 12 hours. I never actually flashed my BIOS with the speed and the only way I could use the speed is if ATI tool was open. Since that one time I havent had time to mess with overclocking.
Yesterday afternoon I used PowerStrip on Vista to try to create a custom resolution for my TV but it never worked right so I stoped tryign after about 5 minutes.
Now for the problem. Just to help my explaination by computer is not set to go to sleep when I close the lid. It will just sit there. Last night when I opened the lid after it had been sitting there the LCD would not come on. It was black, BUT the lights that iluminate the screen were on. When I closed it the lights would go off and then when I opened it the lights would go back on. I did this about 4 times or so then the picture came back. I though nothing of it and I went about my night. Well tonight I opened the lid after it was sitting for a while the same thing happend. The problem is, I CANNOT get the picture to come back. I have restarted numerous times, I have even booted into XP (I an set up dual booting). I can not see the BIOS screen, I CANNOT SEE ANYTHING.
I tried to hook up an external monitor (my 40" LCD TV) and it worked. I could look around and everything seemed normal. I went to the display configuation and the ONLY option is for single display. It is like my computer LCD is not there at all. I then went to XP with my TV connected and the TV worked but my LCD still didnt. Once again I couldnt get my LCD to come on. I then went back to Vista and now my TV doesnt even work although I imagine I can get ti working again.
what do you think the problem is? I have complete care so should I call and just have it replace? It shocks me (like a static shock) anyways. If I do go that route because I cant fix it, will they know the GPU has been reflashed?
If I would want to reflash the GPU with the stock BIOS (If I can even find it), I will be doing it completly 100% blind as my TV will only work once the OS is up and running and not during the boot up. I need some serious help here. I have to go to bed because I have class tomorrow but any help will be much appriciated and I will respond ASAP.
My main questions are...
Possible fixes?
Do I need to flash the GPU with the stock bios if I am going to have Dell replace the laptop?
Thank you,
