I had a replacement screen sent to me from dell because 1/3 of the screen on my other one died. Anyway, I've noticed that this new screen attracts WAAAAY more dust than my old one, itis almost static-like.

I've noticed something that looked like a scratch on the screen, well, it looked more like a hair, but it would not budge. I had my computer off and I wiped it with a light water/isoprol acohol solution and upon rebooting I noticed that the "scratch" had MOVED, albeit not very far, it WAS a hair. it was completely stuck to the screen somehow.

Now, I've noticed what I thought were dead pixels on the screen are really dirt/dust specs that will not come off. They might move slightly if I clean my screen like before, but they remain pretty well ingrained into my screen.

My screen in a Sharp 17' Truelife (glossy) display.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the dirt off AND reduce the static/dust attracting nature of the screen? Its really ridiculous and I'm pretty close to calling Dell for a replacement screen.

If the dust is really on the outside of the screen, you should have no trouble wiping it off with a damp cloth. However, what you write sounds like you have dust underneath the top cover of your LCD. If that is the case, the only way to get rid of it is to return the LCD for a replacement.

Like he said, it sounds to me like the dust or debris is on the inside of the LCD which in turn means another phone call to Dell.

If the screen still seems to attract dust and stray hairs try using "Sprayaway" brand glass cleaner. It comes in an aerosol can (not a pump bottle like Windex) and is real foamy. Radio Shack sells a similar product for twice the price in a can half the size. It's just a foaming glass and plastic cleaner that has a side effect of reducing static on plastic surfaces cleaned with it. My LCDs don't get dusty nearly as quickly since I started using the stuff. Don't spray directly on the screen though, spray on a soft cloth then wipe the screen.
