Basically is this new BIOS specifically meant for running Vista or is it a general new BIOS that can be used with XP? :scratch:Cheers

Way to be non-specific Mike. Are people supposed to read your mind as to what laptop you have?
I'll take it that you're probably speaking about the 3A27 bios for the Ferrari 4000... if so, I'm using it with XP right now. Haven't tried it in Vista yet so I can't tell you what it does better on that OS. I haven't had any issues in XP that I know of yet.

I got it from here a few weeks ago, http://secure2.tx.acer.com/VistaDownloads/AcerSeries.aspx but it seems to be down right now.

Been running it for a few weeks with XP SP2. Increased the speaker output.

I'm glad someone else exprerienced this. Others have said they didn't notice any difference in speaker volume. I noticed mine doubled in range. I no longer have to blast full volume to just hope to hear my music.
