I'll be getting my Sager Wednesday, and I'm not sure if people have already posted a whole lot about it, but what problems can I expect to encounter with mandrake 9? Do I have to find ATI drivers or do they finally have them out for the m9? Any other problems I might have?

When Mandrake 9.1 comes out (it's in RC2 now) You will have perfect compatability with everything, I'm pretty sure. You may want to get the ATI drivers, because they provide better performance.

How about just regular ol' Mandrake 9? Any driver conflicts?
I guess I'll get the ATI one, although I've never actually done a driver install on linux after I've already installed...we'll see how that goes.

haha, yay, another overnight download.
I know microsoft lets you "update" your CDs...meaning you can upgrade your XP CD to XP SP1 so the next time you install you dont need to put SP1 on again.
Any chance Mandrake's got that?
Edit:
Actually, I was told by GrandMasterLee that an XFree update would do the trick. Hopefully that's all i need, I don't feel like downloading a beta.

I'd wait on installing 9.1 RC2 it's failing to load the drivers for firewire again during install. I've got an open bugzilla report (2181) at qa.mandrakesoft.com. They're looking into it (in fact I owe them some info before they can proceed). Anyway Beta 3 seemed to work pretty well it recognized all the hardware. Hopefully when they get the firewire bug worked out we'll (Sager owners) will be golden.

Hey, Firewire is fixed in 2.4.21-pre4. So any patch from this will successfully enable and configure firewire. Better even , 2.4.21 should be out stable very soon.
Sorry for editing your post...wrong button tho :smash:
