After, well, messing and learning a lot about Linux through Gentoo... I am gonna give Debain a wee go...
(Will I ever just settle on a distro? :p)
I have (been bored in work) read the apt-get howto... I have already tried installing it today (did successfully with a woody net install disk... but I have failed with the sarge net install as I cannot seem to get it to load the network module :(
Anyway, I think I will install a very basic woody and then upgrade it using apt-get... so, I have a quick question...
So far, I have been installing (with gentoo) just the bleeding edge of packages... you would think that this would alleviate most problems (upgrading = more features + better right?) but unfortunatley not.
So my question is, what package versions should I install to get wineX + wine working fully, as these seem to be my main culprits... I am guessing you are gonna tell me to avoid the latest glibc (seems to be the main problem) and possibly xfree 4.3.0 (which I am prolly gonna avoid anyway as I want UT2003 to work.)
Yet again, if I get everything up and running right, I will post an install guide... which will be made redundant once laclasse releases his sager specific debian install (iso?)
Anyway... cheers again
