Just recieved my lappy today

Only had it up for an hour or so.. and this post will be edited for a full review when i get time, but for now...

Specs:

Pentium M 2.13
2 x 512 memory
60gig 72k rpm
sxga + 6600 te
dvd burner

I read some other reviews about hard mouse buttons... but unless toshiba redesigned them within the last couple of weeks these buttons dont feel hard at all.. just feels normal, like any other laptop i've used before

fan noise isnt too bad... but then my desktop rig has 9 fans and i can here it about 8ft away through a closed door(seriously) and i sleep in that room too so fan noise never really bothers me. I'd compre it to my desktop at work which is just a compaq presario(fairly quiet)

this thing is F-ing quick :headbang:

touchpad was fine when i brought it out of the box. when i placed the cursor in the middle of the screen and went from the center of the touchpad to the corner the arrow hit the corner of the screen as well and it went all the way down to the other corner without me having to take my finger off the touchpad to reposition it..

I really havent gotten to use it but for a couple of minutes at work and I'm on my way out the door in a few. when i get home and get a ciouple of hours to play with it i will do a more indepth review

so far though I'd give this thing a solid 9. Nice build quality, nice ass screen(No dead pix's that i can see)..

its like christmas in may!! :santa: :santa:

Nice! It looks like they've resolved the touchpad issue, and it sounds like your fan and the last one I read about are alot better than the first two reviews. Maybe they've fixed them -- good deal!!!

Merry Chistmas, enjoy your new toy and keep us posted!

Hi Rennerc,

I'm considering one of these machines, but your comment on the fan noise has me concerned. Could you just have a bum box, or is this just a cheap fan they put in there?

Run any benchmarks yet (3dmark 03 ?) or have any other observations to share?

Thanks,

Greg

the fan noise isnt anything really attention getting. when on ac power and the laptop is running full steam you can hear it kick on and off.. I had it in lab the other night(on battery) on "normal" power. I was in lab for 2 hours and i dont recall hearing it except for once and that was because i hadnt heard it kick on and i picked it up to make sure it was cooking itself with heat

Dear rennerc,

I also want to buy the M3 in Hong Kong. But I really want to know the performance for the 6600 TE. Sucha as playing Winning 11.

never heard of that game, but it plays half-life 2 and cs:s really well

If it does HL2 it'll do Winning Eleven, no problem. Actually, my Geforce 3 does WE8 just fine, and it's slower than a X300! :)

depends, if you are looking to play them max'd out no. if you are planning to play them at medium settings (basically with some or a fair bit of the eye candy depending on the game) then yes it will play.
