Having read a few topics, I take it my 7800GTX has died? I've only had the laptop for about 2 months before it died, so what options do I have now?

I'm hoping someone can comment on a system dell is sending to me as a warranty replacement. I have a couple of questions;

- is the Core 2 Due SU 9400 processor any good, I don't see it with any configuations on the dell site.

- it strange that they are sending a computer with 64bit Windows 7 but only putting 2GB of Ram, isn't that too low?

- I can't look up the item numbers any where, is there somewhere where they can be looked up.

- Does the system look any good?

I've been having a problem with my xps gen 2 laptop lately. I was using it the other day and closed the lid and let the system hibernate while I was at work, when I opened it up again it looked like the video card was artifacting. (It has a 6800 ultra in it) I don't use the system to game anymore, its just my daily laptop and it doesn't do alot of video intensive tasks. I ran dell diagnostics and it said it was experiencing errors writing to memory. Every once and a while I can start the system and there is no artifacting. I'm pretty sure the video card is fried because it artifacts while posting, and on the external screen I tried as well. I pulled apart the system to clean it (it wasn't to dusty, I blow it out with compressed air a couple of times a month). Also I removed the graphics chip and reseated it just to make sure it hadn't come loose or anything. I just want to be sure before I spend the money to replace the graphics chip. I'm probably going to replace it with an x600 since most of the things I do aren't graphics intense and I plan to get a new laptop some time next year. Does this sound like the graphics card to you guys, or do I have a different problem?:scratch:

i have just boughta laptop studio xps 1640 from ebay , seller afew more with same cpu. after long search i could not find such a cpu , even on intels website.

what do you guys know aboutIntel Core 2 Duo P9800 (3MB cache/2.8GHz/1066Mhz FSB)

The HD in my Inspiron 1000 died and I am trying to install XP on my new HD.

The install process formats the drive and loads the system files but then it turns off. Always at the same point.

I can load and run Windows 2000 Pro with no problems.
I have tried a dell reinstall disk for XP Home, and XP Pro and they both have the same symptom

If I power the laptop back on it starts the whole install process again

I am tired of the one I have now. It takes well over 30 minutes to burn just one CD.

I have the philips dvd burner that came with the laptop and I simply do not like it. Some CDs it wont even read, while other drives can read them.

What's the best dvd/cd burner I can get for my e1705 that's a direct replacement? I don't want gaps/loose drives in the bay.

I have a XPS M1710 that has crapped out on me. Dell is offering me a replacement, and apparently it's going to be a refurbished Studio XPS 16. I'm still waiting for the phone call with the details about the specific unit they plan on putting swapping mine with, but I wanted to know if you guys think this is an acceptable trade? The screen is smaller and I just don't think it's fair that I have to accept a laptop that has a screen that is smaller than 17 in, but Dell no longer offers 17 in gaming systems. Am I being ungrateful?

I contacted Dell and, as usual, they were no help! All they had was drivers for Vista and XP 32 bit.

So, I tried the ones for Vista and no dice! :'(

I don't see anything on Logitech's site either, especially because I don't know what the model number might be... :scratch:

Any idea, recommendations etc on how to get the drivers for Windows 7 ?

Did it has Bluetooth included? The shop didn't show any blutooth option, as I see.

i use a del xps m1530 n my chrager all of a sudden can no longer chrage my system need ideas on if its a soft or hard ware issue.
the charger can power on the system though

i own a dell xps m1530 with the following specs
intel core 2 duo t8300 2.4 ghz
4 gb ddr2 ram
500 gb 5400 rpm hd
nvidia geforce 8600m gt ddr3
etc
while im charing the laptop is a t tip top condition but if i remove the charger while the laptop plays any thing graphically intensive like a game it just blacks out boom without shutting down. even if i try starting the game without it charging it still blacks out when if starts redering the graphics ive tried every thing n i always meet a dead end pls i need a lil help

Gosh..there are so many people with a dead 8800m gtx. Mine died a week back. Technician came yesterday.. replaced motherboard to see if it made things alright..It didnt. Now they are telling me that I will have to wait another week for the replacement parts which (is supposed) to be arriving a week later from Malaysia. (BTW I am from India.) If anybody here would be to let me know if 8800m are actually being replaced or not (especially in Asia)?

I have read many posts in this forum with most people from the USA and few in Europe having their M1730 being replaced with AW m17x. Any idea on whats the scenario in Asia?

What should I expect from dell a week from now? Any chances that I could actually get a 8800m replacement as I was told?

If they tell me to wait for, say a week or two more, do I have any other option but to wait? I asked them to provide me a temporary laptop replacement till the issue was fixed, but they said they dont have such facilities.

So I just got my Studio XPS 1340. Everything is good. Just installed Windows 7(clean install). But, there is a problem with the ethernet when the system resumes from sleep/standby. I didn't test ethernet with vista. There seems to be no problems with Wifi resuming from sleep. Is this just a Windows 7 driver problem? I updated the bios, drivers, basically everything I can find I updated.
Still happening.

Also turned off "Turn this device off to save power" option.

Any ideas?

I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 with a 7800GTX in it, and have run into some troubles.

So this morning I left my computer up, screen working fine. Return a few hours later to a black screen. Try restarting, still no display. Unplugged everything that was plugged into the laptop (including an external monitor) and tried again to no avail. I tried starting it with the external monitor plugged in to see if it would display there. Still no luck.

The backlight on the LCD comes on when I start it up, but nothing actually displays. This makes me think the LCD is fine but the video card might be fried? I have tried it with and without the battery in, and I also tried reseating both the video card as well as the RAM, still no luck. Any other ideas?

To reiterate, nothing is showing up, ever. From boot on, it's just a blank screen. However, I get it to beep at me when I enter BIOS/Safe Mode menu. It also seems to boot up to the windows login screen just fine judging on how long it takes to shut down by holding down the power button. So I think it is still booting fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

I'm not sure what the problem is with my M1730, however I'm having problems using Sigmatel Drivers, and I wanna use them because I wanna take full advantage of having Dual Audio. But currently I'm having problems trying to get my dual audio jacks to work. One would obviously say go to the dell website and download the drivers and install and there shouldn't be a problem.

Well..... it's not that simple because for some reason there is only one audio drivers found there, and that one audio driver doesn't seem to properly install on my system for whatever reason. I'm running 64-bit Windows Vista :bored: and I have no clue as to what my issue is to get this to work. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
