...partnering to bring "real" 3D to notebooks!

ASUS G51J 3D is positioning itself to be the 1st to offer Nvidia's 3D Vision technology, associating with what one experiences in the movie theatre.

In order to obtain this performance, the notebook supports a 15.6" LCD running at 120 Hz (current LCD is at 60Hz) to accommodate the Nvidia 3D Vision technology.

Note that this is an expansion/upgrade from the current G51J model that was just being earlier this month - with a totally "3D" LCD (??)

The notebook, tentatively priced at $1.700 (according to news feeds) comes with a pair of 3D glasses and an infrared controller.

It looks like there's some definitive information regarding the most reliable notebook brands. Square Trade, a company that provides extended warranty service, did an extended reliability study and came up with the following:

A new study published by SquareTrade revealed that the smaller name brand notebook manufacturers are usually more reliable than their larger rivals. Of the top nine, ASUS has the lowest tracked breakdown rate with fewer than 10 percent of its notebooks failing in the past two years. Toshiba, Sony and Apple also have better-than-average performance and are either just over or under the same figure.

The higher volume companies largely see significantly worse long-term prospects. While Dell is only slightly less reliable, failure rates jump significantly for Lenovo, Acer and its sub-label Gateway. HP fares the worst with about 16 percent of its portables breaking down.

Overall, the UL80Vt is an attractive package -- super glossy and fingerprint prone, to be sure -- but sleek and slim following the recent trend. It isn't the most rugged build quality we've ever seen, to be sure -- it's thin, light, and also easy enough to bend or warp in your hands if you give it a try -- but it also doesn't have any hallmarks we'd designate as cheap feeling.
