It has finally happened, my graphics card has after 3.5 years of steady and faithful use, finally given out.

Since a picture says more than thousand words, here is two:

What happens next? I have put Arctic Silver on the GPU, more than 3 years ago, so if anything it extended the GFX's lifespan, will Dell still give me fuss about this? This is the infamous G91 series with the production fault, so i have kind of wating for this to happen.. And i have more than 1.5 year left on my NBD warranty..

So what happens next? Just a matter of a quick replacement of the GPU? I really like the M90 and do not want a new laptop, ironically--but i need this sorted asap.

Last week I replaced both the CMOS battery and the laptop battery.
The laptop worked perfectly while running on the battery. Then according to the instructions that came with the battery, I changed all the power settings to never and allowed the battery to completely discharge. I then recharged it fully.
Now however the laptop will not boot up or even run at all on battery power. If the laptop is plugged into the AC adapter, all is well. As soon as you unplug the adapter, the laptop shut off.
The battery is showing to be 100% charged.

Any one have any ideas or suggestion to get the laptop back where it will run on the battery alone?

The reason I ask is because we support a number of Dells here at the office, and my team mostly has an el cheapo laptop repair kit with a very cheap universal screwdriver set. I've noticed that the phillips head of the screwdriver doesn't seem to set very well into the Dell screws on the bottom of the laptop. If not enough force is applied to the screw, the screw will strip very easily.

That said, I did a motherboard replacement on a D630 last week, and have to admit that Dell makes it very easy compared to some manufacturers (except of course, for their cheap screws)

The driver installed fine on my E6400 (running 64 bit Windows 7), but Wireless Manager (downloaded from Sony Ericsson website) stopped working saying it can't find any wireless device (probably because it can't recognize the new driver).

Then I went to get Control Point Connection Manager and noticed that there's none for Windows 7. So how do you use the WWAN card without a client?

TIA.

I'm upgrading my Toshiba MK3008GAL hdd to a MK8025GAL. The Toshiba HJ178 Flex Cable will not clamp tight in the new drive and now won't clamp tight back in the old drive either. The laptop does not see the new drive OR the old drive if I put it back in.

The ZIF connectors seem to work in that they flip up (open) and down (closed) as they're supposed to. In the old drive the cable was tight when I first removed it.

I've tried taping the cables down in both drives, and inserting paper in with the top of the cable to make a snug fit. Still neither drive is recognized.

I've ordered a replacement cable (used) in case I've mangled the old one, but still the old one should fit tight.

Any suggestions? Thx.

Reported that my m90 broke to Dell over the weekend- had the warranty and then get this. Usually, Dell has me send it to the depot for repair but the CS person said they would just replace it with an equal or better laptop - usually better. I agreed.

CS told me it would take 7 business days, but 3 days later the replacement is shipped and I should get it tomorrow. It's a m6400. I have the service tag # but when I enter it in, the specs don't appear. More info incoming shortly.

Absolutely stunned. The turnaround was amazing.

These were my m90 specs:

T7400, 2.16
2gb ram
Liquid Crystal Display, 17, WU VESA, Sharp, V2
CG129	Card, Graphics, 512MB, M90, G71GL
