Have you tried cycling with Fn-F8? I never tried 2 external with Vista on any of my laptops but that is supposed to rotate through all configs of screen. though I vaguely remember reading something about Vista hving issues with some 2...

Latest Dells have disable touchpad when USB mouse is connected (1720 does at least). Don't know if that would be good enough.

I replaced the boot drive and re-installed. Having the second drive makes re-installs a lot easier as you can have all your personal data and downloads on the second disk.

How do dual hard drives in the 1720 come configured? The option was 500GB (2x250) or something similar (only dual drive option). Is it one big partition (RAID or JBOD, I've seen differing options on whether the 1720 even supports...

I still haven't gotten mine yet. Of course with my Technet subscription I already have Vista, but it would be nice to get the Dell one.
