It would be best to download the whole set of drivers you think you need and burn them on to a CD, just in case the Vista installation is missing some. I'm assuming you're going to use the Asus Vista upgrade DVD here.
IMHO if the omega drivers are giving you problems just use the ATI drivers or even the ASUS ones. If getting that extra 1-2fps gives problems it's probably not worth it.

You can use a diagnostic tool like EVEREST, Sandra or Nero Infotool to display the capabilities of your disc drive.
Does this problem occur in all programs that can use Ctrl-B? If it does you may have some driver problems (to do with the keyboard controller). Another possibility is that you got a faulty keyboard.
Thanks for the reply. I am having trouble releasing the catches for the optical drive bezel (for both my drives the catch positions look similar- I think they can be swapped) - could someone with experience in this provide some advice?
