Try installing Windows XP Professional again. Make sure to do a clean installation. This can be done by booting off the setup disk and selecting the option to format, then install XP.

3 year warranties never made sense to me. After 3 years, your laptop will be junk anyway, why bother fixing it when you can get a new one?

I wouldn't necessarily say that the use of AS is an advantage. It's not hard to do it yourself, and it costs next to nothing.

Isn't a CRTs sharpness usually measured in dot pitch? For example, my old 17" CRT is a .28 dot pitch, which is on the high end.
