I dual-boot with XP and Fedora right now, I tend to use Fedora more since it's more fun to play around with.

I think any standard keyboard is fine, I tried some gaming keyboards I find it that the standard is the best, but that's just my opinion

Well considering there are not many programs that are 64-bit you should be fine using Windows XP. Wither XP will use both cores I do not know, probably a good idea to google it or something.
