My tecras S1 sits on my desk and barely leaves the room. I never leave the battery in while Im plugged in. I put my battery on the shelf with a full charge.

I have the same notebook and I often use headphones with no problems. Id keep on trying to get toshiba to replace/repair the motherboard. The headphone jack might just need to be soldered, IF thats the case. Fixing it yourself...

Try FN+F5 and see if that works. Or plug in a monitor to your laptop and see if it shows your desktop.

Is this laptop under warranty?
