No, he doesn't have relaxed timings for the rev 1 cards, only 1.24 volts. The best overclock I could get was 580/580 with the 1.24v bios.
Tiken and bache, the highest I can overclock my 7900gs is 580/580. Anything higher on the memory clocks starts to artifact.
You can use Juan's unlocked bios, 791UNV.ROM. This is the 1.24 volt bios and will let you overclock.
Tikan, yes this bios will work with the new cards. You must use the 791unv.rom.
This same thing happened to me. No chain macing, just from putting in my carry bag every day. Called Dell to order a new power brick and instead they sent me a new laptop. Tech said the spark may have damaged something so they sent me a...
For me Oblivion and Fear were unplayable due to artifacts, fps were fine. I have a m1710 with a 7400 and a 7900gs(mild overclock). I tried every Vista driver out with the same results. It was a nice OS but went back to XP til better...
Just for the record, I got my Gen 2 replacement about 2 and a half weeks ago ( a M1710 with a 7400, 1 gig ram, 80 gig 7200 rpm hard drive and a 7900gs) You will be getting a Rev 1 7900GS card so will NOT be able to do the GSX flash. You...
Ok, here's a question. How do you get the clocks to stick after reboot in Vista. I can overclock with ntune no problem, but the clocks go back to staock after reboot. I have tried the saving the profile method and they still won't stick.
There is a misprint on Juan's guide. For rev 1 cards you need to type 791GSUNV.ROM, not 790GSUNV.ROM. This works fine...no black screen.
I second ZZpulp's question. Can you use this bios with the new Rev 1 cards or only the older version?
