I got an email back from Alienware support stating that nothing should be obstructing the vents. Uhh huh. So I'm going to take off the bottom panel over the fan (looks like an impeller actually) and remove the patches from the grills....

It is not so much a color problem as a brightness problem. Brighness seems to decrease rapidly from the point that you are facing dead on. -Danko
