i have the 9100 inspiron, ati 256 meg, 100 gig hd and when just surfing the net the fan is LOUD as heck. why so loud and can i disable something?

what processor does a dell 9100 Inspiron have? I have a P4 3.0

I had this disabled a year ago and recently formatted. Now when I do certain windows functions and whatnot, the internal sound card beep occurs. How do I disable this? I thought it might be in the BIOS
