Is your landline cordless or corded? The built-in wireless nic operates at 2.4ghz. Maybe it is interfering with your phone.

No the keyboard is translucent for all the keys. My picture just didn't come out well due to the lighting. I was trying to get the keys to appear translucent so I had to place the lighting at an angle.
