I have also wondered if the speed difference between 5400 and 7200 made any noteable difference. Would I actually notice??

Never had a problem with lockups!! Though the 9100 is always on a hard surface such as a tea tray while on lap. So hopefully there is no restriction to the airflow. Even long sessions with FarCry etc causes no problems.

no problem with light with my screen. Whatever your first port of call should be Dell.
