The reviewers criticism seems to stem from a subjective preference, rather than an actual "quality issue". The screen in question has a resolution of 1280x800. It's up the the individual to determine if this is satisfactory. You may want to head over to best buy and look at a monitor with that res before making a purchase.

Just as a sidenote....I have found that if a piece of computer equipment makes it a year it can very likely last forever. Anything I have ever had fail always did so in the first 90 days.
Have a look at the Emachines 6805.
It is odm'd by Arima and by all accounts a very nice unit. Best buy just added a bunch of rebates to em to make room for the new 6810 and 6811's.
By all accounts these are great machines.
Or why not order the mitac from another vendor?
