Well, if it's using the exact same components (processor, hard disk, power supply, motherboard) then it will produce roughly the same amount of heat. However, an equally important factor in how hot your notebook will get is how well...
That's not exactly a fully accurate answer. More cache is good because it means that the processor does not have to access slow system memory (e.g., ddr333) as often. Rather it has the data and code that it needs right at its finger...
Basically, as kronus wrote, the ticking would be related to the model of your hard disk... See my previous post; it gives an overview: http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=46058
Thanks for the response, I really appreciate it. I figured that the firmware update would work. However, I just wanted to be careful in order to avoid doing something prone to failure. If you have the time, I have just a couple of...
My Hitachi drive just will not stop clicking… This issue has been raised on this forum and other forums before, but I am not sure if a definitive resolution has been found. Apparently, these clicks are the result of Hitachi’s ABLE power...
You can blow off dust w/ compressed gas (e.g., Difluoroethane). For the LCD screen, I like to use "Klear Screen" cleaning solution (www.klearscreen.com) and the lint free cloths/wipes that they provide are also good...
For 2D programs, pretty much only the framebuffers are stored in video memory: (number of pixels)*(bits per pixel) Which is equivalent to: (Width)*(Height)*(bits per pixel) Now convert bits to bytes (divide by...

Guspaz, Do you notice the clicking on your drive? The power utilization is nice and low, but when I'm on AC Power, I really don't care about a 1 W savings in hard disk power utilization. Hitachi should provide a way to turn off...
Yeah, it does appear to happen way too frequently... it must be a bug in their firmware (or just an overagressive setting, e.g., let's park the heads after 2 seconds of inactivity)... as I said, Dell has posted a firmware update to...
