I am having a similar problem but my lcd suffers blackouts at random times (not necessarily at startup) or sometimes changes to a total lime green screen. I'm wondering if this is also a reed switch issue or graphics card overheating...

Oh, haha, I played around with the ATI Powerplay settings and set the profile for AC power performance on low and clicked apply. Immediately the fan shut itself up Must have been the grouchy power hungry ATI card.
Can someone please share their undervolt settings for the 8103? Or would it be ok to use an 8104's settings? My fan is on all the friggin time now even though my CPU speed is set to low and room temp is 60-70F.
Yes, I set my desktop to 1024 x 768 16 bit 60 hertz which is the same spec for my NEC HT1100. At 32 bit color depth, I started running into weird problems: flickering or no sync at all.

I started having lesser problems when using the native resolution of my DLP projector 1024 x 768 at 60Hz factory specs and matching them to the resolution of my desktop. Try that.
