Everyone's putting too much thought into this. The poor laptop is just drunk. Give it a few days and it'll wear off. Poor kid... never knew what it was drinking.

As far as a range increase what are you looking at? I have an old 3com AP that I'm not ready to give up. It has 2 stock antenna. Would giving it 2x 9dbi antenna give me more signal on the first floor of my home?

Sony MDR-V700's. They were cheap enough. About $100 from what I remember and they sound great.

Any particular reason you went with an Opty rather than an X2? I thought that there was very little performance difference.

I've had this hiss in my D470K, 4750, since I had it and people told me it was "just the way it is." They really are sub-par in the area of sound IMO.

It's all about price for performance. When the 9500pro/9700/9700pro days were running rampant all the way up to the early x800xt days nVidia was clearly behind. But nessesity is the mother of invention and nVidia pulled their heads out...
