I read on PC World that the CPU on some laptops are not soldered and can be replaced with a faster one on your own. How about SONY? If it's soldered, is it easy to replace it with another one?
May I ask what is the difference between FE4_DRIVERS.ZIP and FE3_DRIVERS.ZIP. Both were mentioned here. Should I use FE4 if it's a newer one?

I have the same model (FE880E). I plan to do the same thing. Please keep us posted on this issue. I will extract the Vista and applications on HD first though.

Can you elaborate more on not being able to install XP? I may want to install XP from scratch after extracting files from the HD. I just tried booting XP installation CD from DVD/CD drive and it went through OK to the Welcome to Setup...
