If you are buying a notebook now you might as well wait for santa rosa which is due to come out in couple of dayes. If you really cant, have also a look on the Asus G1 which has a geforce 7700 and nice specs
try uninstalling / reinstalling the company software which is reponsible for power savings. You can always make a fresh install of your windows copy and see if it fixes the problem. If it doesnt, contact the manufacturer

not true with current cpu's they are ratted at lower watts and produce way less heat than they use to (IE prescott)
