i would also look at SUSE since you can download a Live cd and an Install ISO. But get the 32bit version if you have a broadcom wireless since you have to use ndis wrappers to get it to play nice with linux. BTW i have Suse 9.1 installed...
a tip for future linux installs, always install the boot loader to the MBR so it is easily removed, i didn't do this once, and had to do a Low Level Format to get it back to normal.
