Stop whining. If you originally wanted to buy the notebook from them, you still should. You really have that big a problem with a few inconsistencies? Have fun trying to find a place without any.
I think the moral of this story is that $40 is a small price to pay to cover for your mistake and potentially save yourself $1500.
