Not to be a jerk or anything, But i have seen problems like that and it was beacuse Virus Poor Windows Administration. (yes windows does need help now and then) OS was installed incorrectly Sounds like a mixture of all 3....

I think you will be alright, Newer cards may have faster speed but the only way they can do this is they have worked out how to reduce the heat off the cards. but a 9600 to 800x does have a heat difference. (problems with early P4...
