no, but Dell won't cover the new processor...you might want to ask Dell though to make asbolutely sure, maybe get a written copy from them that says "if you do x, it will void the warranty, if you do y, it won't"

for the time being, no, maybe in the future we can hope that Dell releases a 9700 that will fit in the 8600 chassis, but for the time being the 9600 is the best that you can do
