Unleaded and Smilepak are both corect. You have to buy a volume license (which means buying at least 10 licenses at once I belive) to get the corporate install key. Both corporate and Pro are actually both XP Pro, the only difference...

My 1557 only gives me the percentage left as well.

Mine came with a 24X CD burner, but it reads DVDs at 8X I think, that might be were the confusion is comming from. Of course you should give them a call and confirm, they could have always changed in the month since I got mine.

No idea what could be causing that (sorry), but I don't have a problem with my 1557.

I leave it at 1400X1050 all the time except in games and then I use 1024X768. 1024X768 looks a little blurry to me in windows due to the scalling, but in games you can't really tell a difference. My last laptop had a 1600X1200...
