Linux is an open source project. Instead of a single operating system, it's a network of slightly different, but compatible operating systems. I'd like to add that linux isn't for the faint of heart.

Yeah I don't know what the specs are or how well it would actually work, but that VW computer looks pretty cool.

Apple could have easily made a dual core G5 based desktop replacement machine with a 7800GTX. However, they chose not to enter that market. Those kinds of machines are not very popular outside the gaming market.

There's also the issue of practically no intel apps.
