IBM plays to more the business market than the consumer market. With the ownership of the PC division changing hands (assuming the government doesn't axe the deal) this may change.

Is the bottleneck with notebook optical drives the size or the ATAPI interface. If it's the interface, could notebookdrives operate at the same speeds as desktop drives if ATAPI were replaced with SATA?
Nice laptop. I'm very impressed with what emachines has done in the higher end laptop segment I'm probably going to go with the sucessor to the 6800 series when I replace my laptop early next year.
