Going with Intel here only because I do both processor-heavy applications and gaming. Since I think the bottleneck for gaming is the graphics card more and the bottleneck for most processor-heavy applications is the processor itself...
Seiran, How about you post the specs of each system you are looking at as well as what you will be using your lappie for. That way we can give you some insight into what might be better on each and what might not be worth it on each....
CJRPilot, I actually do hardly any typing. I was merely suggesting something that others who do, such as FT, could possibly use and take heat away from their wrist while still being very portable and not damage your expensive laptop....

FT, I was suggesting to mod the PCMCIA filler card only so that it'd be very easy to take with you. You would open up the laptop and power it up. Then (if needed) take out your modded filler card and put it on top of the laptop's...

I believe what gave that kid a rash was the exhaust fans blowing heat out the left side of the notebook. The exhaust fans on the 8790 are in the rear so that wouldn't be a problem with it. What are you doing that makes the 8790 hot for...
