Also depends on what programs you have run on boot. If you've nothing, I could see how rebooting would being faster.
Does the 700m support dual-screen? If so, another display is a must.
I'd take a Linux boot CD with QtParted over PartitionMagic anyway. I've changed my partitions with no incident many times. (for free, legally)
Not very useful :O Anyway, Does your post mean that hibernation works fine while plugged in?
Or go to the Advanced options, and the Display tabs and it'll give you more info on what displays the comptuer is seeing.
