i never had experience with home, but for pro, all i do is Start->run type "msconfig" and uncheck all the startups and disable all the services not tide to microsoft.

would loosening the hinges solve the problem? or would the plastic still crack? and for those who claim that their 5690's dont have cracks, how long have you had them?
