Most who have the GMA950 and a 6-cell battery get about 4.5 hours, while the ones who have the GF 7400Go, me included get about 3 hours...
Also to note is that only the camera's back metal frame gets toasty, the front is cool to the touch so if you close and store the laptop with the camera lens facing the palm rest, you should have no problems.
Adapters are usually interchangable within Dell's family of notebooks... my old D800 S-Video adapter fit the M1210, so I would think the M1710's adapter should fit.
System issues have been address since I posted this... the rippling occured by just opening and closing the lid, new LCD back cover fixed the issue along with a new LCD due to watery ripple effected when moving the laptop. SPDIF does...
tarek is right, the M1210 only comes with one video card which uses 64mb of dedicated graphics and 192mb of system RAM... the only ultra portable with both integrated and dedicated graphics is the Sony 13"...
