BIOS support? If the BIOS doesn't support a cpu it resets to 600mhz. Either you update the BIOS or use RMClock.
If your laptop uses Intel Core then there are no 2.8-3ghz processors for it. I'm guessing the most is 2.33ghz, keep in mind that buying the fastest processor for a given range of recent laptops tends to cost quite a bit (think...
Yeah, those look like it.
Many of the HP/Compaqs still use this same adapter, if you know somebody with one you can try it out.
Assuming this is a really old laptop then you ran in to the good ol' ram density issue. High density ram only gets half detected, you need low density ram. You can tell if it's low density by the number of chips, if they crammed 16 chips...
Wireless will always be slower than wired, because of the greater likelihood of dropped packets. 100Mbps wired vs 300mbps wireless N, with the actual internet being 30mbps, wired will win. You can fix it by moving closer to the AP.
They use the same ram.
Get a Pentium M 715/725/735/745/755. They won't let you on the domain??? That's a retarded policy.
Yes, you pull the (often coincell) battery. Tends to be buried pretty deep though.
You don't even need to take the HD out, just reformat. If you want to make it foolproof you'd somehow have to make this chip transmit a homing signal, it would probably drain battery even when off and what radio frequency would they use?...
