Not trying to be funning or anything, but did you even read the DELL Inspiron XPS/ 9100 FAQ at the top of this forum? DELL-sakor1 worked very hard to put it together, reading it would answer all your questions and give you even move...

When my system was less than 45 days old, I was able to upgrade from a 1 year mail in to a 4 year at home for only $140. How long have you had your system? What type of warranty did you get (mail in or at home)?

The 3 ghz processor in the 9100 is actually faster than the processor in the 5150. The 9100 uses a desktop pentium 4 processor while the 5150 uses a pentium 4 mobile. I have had both laptops and would recommend that you keep the 9100.

My cpu usage spiked at 60%, but averaged about 40% during the video playback.

I wish I could be of some help but I have never had that happen to me...good luck finding a solution.
