Many people claim you can occasionally "rub them out" .. no joke. Give it a little pressure with a lint-free cloth and maybe you'll get lucky.

All [non-ancient] drives should be standard. You can always grab the serial off the drive and look it up on Toshiba's site if you want to be 100% sure that it is a standard 2.5" hdd.

azureus is by far the best bt program.. if you don't mind its high memory usage (I guess thats what you get with it being java and all). Some people like to whine about it.. boohoo, buy more ram if you have an issue. Azureus is worth it

The chip is being clocked down while you're not doing anything (ie: sitting at the desktop) and has yet to be stressed and clocked up when you go to install a game.
