Lets be honest, if you have a laptop you are going to surf the net and chat on AIM during class. From my experience, few if anyone actually use their laptop for "legitimate" purposes during class.

I had some occassionaly video card related issues crop up with mine shortly before it was stolen. Seemed like it was overheating or something. Never really pinned it down or really cared at the time.

Desktops used to last me 5-6 years. I've built two in a year now. My first laptop lasted 3 years before the motherboard fried on it. The second lasted 6 months before it was stolen out of my car.
