a Dell 700m is good too. 12" widescreen. And dell regularly has been putting out coupons good for a couple days. They had a one day one awhile ago that was near 40% off on some machines.
I think the if any one wants a pentium 4 they'd either get the 9860, which has the same drives n' such as the 5690, or of they needed something smaller, the 4380. I think few really wanted an thick, heavy notebook in a 15" size....
you can buy an HP warranty anytime during you first year of purchase.

I would recomend the ACER ferrari and some upgrades in RAM and HD especially seeing you'e budget.

I wouldn't trust what acer says just yet, I think when someone asked about upgrades to the acer 1712 they replied that the gpu's fixed to the mobo too. And on the 1712 it's clearly not.
