Try specifying the nic's IP address instead of through DHCP if you have it that way.

If you have the bluetooth module installed, it could be that dying. This happened to me, and it drove me crazy because windows kept beeping everytime the USB thingo of the bluetooth module died and came back up. I didn't realise this...

Maybe your screen is faulty. I got a 600M last week and the screen is perfect (SXGA+ like yours). Everything is default as when I got it, I formatted it to get rid of the junk. The screen looks much crisper than my 21 inch Sony...
