I don't think the T42's chasis is at all ugly, it is simple and built for functionality. Of course I'm also more interested in superior build quality, than say four snazzy looking speakers which produce subpar sound even by notebook...
I don't know how bright a Sager 3790 is in person, and maybe my thinkpad's flexview screen is abnormal, but I would not consider it dim, by any means.
