get a cross over cable if you dont have a router. If you do then some Cat 5 cable will do.
hook your laptop up to your desktop and follow the windows XP network set up screen prompts.
in the windows XP OEM...
1. change the boot order in the bios to CD Rom
2. enable the floppy drive in the bios
3. from another computer OR the Sager driver site download and or copy the SATA drivers to a formatted floppy disk
now with the computer turned...
first use the ATI tool to down clock the video card
if that fails its artic silver time.

smells like a memory stick issue
pull the ram sticks and boot up with ONE and see if the laptp runs.

if you are trying to reinstall XP go into your bios (hit f2 i believe) and disable your internal card reader.
confirm that the DVD/CD drive is the first boot device
restart your computer
