Know this thread is old, but it seems pretty interesting. I'm running on an m1710 screen and colour seems damn fine, but hell if it can get better. One thing I noticed is the screen looks like crap outta the box, but I lowered brightness...

Yeah I know GDDR3 is video memory man and that it reads and writes and can actually operate at higher temps without issues. I was just reinforcing the point that DDR3 is better for high preformance, and not so much for other things....

Ahhh, I don't have a snap on cooler though, mine's the even tension X ones, whatever they're called. Works for me!

DDR3 and up is typically only in the REAL world, better for video cards and things that need fast timings, fast frequencies and good memory that can take the heat. I don't see a point to DDR3 capable mobos for system ram...well not yet.

Yeah 64 bit is becoming the way to go. I thought that it didn't matter and that all OSes running 32 bit could only access 3.25Gb, not 4gb. So I'm totally bogusly wrong? (I've never ran higher than 3Gbs so yet to test never felt a need.)
