Dell has an option of 320GB 5400rpm drive for their 1720s. The issue is 7200rpm. The biggest so far is 200GB and Dell refuses to put that in 1720. Apparently these drives are in short supply and would limit selling of computers. So Dell...
Completely 'on the money'. Ordered my 1720 without Blue Ray. Please note that 16x DVD writer as shown on the 'Help Me Choose' popup is actually 8x DVD writer (writes DVD+R at 8x). Dell puts 16x writers only in desktops. That is very...
Is that possible to replace Dell's hard drive with you own and install the OS and software from "Reinstallation" disk, which came with the computer (1720 laptop)? Or, Dell "took care" of that never happening?
10/25/2007 I am planning to buy Inspiron 1720 with 160GB 7200rpm hard drive, then buy HITACHI 200GB 7200rpm 16MB and install it myself as the 2nd drive under a separate letter (no Raid). Will get from Dell the caddy and connector, if...

10/24/2007 I am buying Inspiron 1720: Dual core 2.4GH | 4GB RAM | nVIDIA 8600 | DVD recordable, but not sure which HDrive - 160GB 7200 or 320GB 5400. I keep my computers for a long time and like to have some extra space. 160 is on a...
10/23/2007 Does anyone know model of the Blue Ray Dell uses in Inspiron 1720 or in any laptop? Found out today from sales rep it is 1x recording 50GB in 92 min. Using that data barely found LiteOn LH-2B1S-BD-RE on the web. Not sure it...
