It's barely possible that getting the latest BIOS and Video BIOS updates will help. When I had 3D artifacting problems, Sager ended up just updating my BIOS with tweaked (lower) clock settings. The problems never recurred.

Well, the reason I think the controller is fried is that IDE1 does NOT work with this Samsung drive, while the drive does work on IDE2....that definitely should NOT be happening.
