It is enabled in the BIOS?
We are to blame, our skin constantly sheds cells in flakes that form the vast majority of dust in the house... Laptop = plastic and metal item with spinning fans = static electric build up - attracts dust like a moth to a lamp.... Works...
The key killer of GPU's on laptops is blocking vents by resting it on non flat surfaces ie the the duvet or knees... Always on a flat surface and let it breath.... The other thing that can kill them is picking the laptop up and wandering...
Read through this... Usually you have to strip the laptop down to get to it, but take the back covers off the RAM, hard drive and Wifi card and see if you can see it...
Yeah, your gonna need to recheck the connections... When you took the old screen out, did you disconnect the lot from the motherboard? If so you may have missed putting the earth back on.... With wifi, reseat the card first, before...
Here's a nice boring Toshiba a good business style laptop.... Struggling to see the resolution you want on the screens from 11" to 14" though....

What about an e-SATA drive, a lot of noteboks come with an e-SATA port....
I go on this one... Toshiba repairs, few and far between.... HP repairs, very common, esp cracked cases - however that may be down to HP being cheaper and therefore more popular... I own a Toshiba and 2 HP's... Not in the same price...
