does hard drive speed .. 4200... 5400.. 7200.. do these speeds acutally affect running an application or gameplay.. or is the speed just how fast it boots the application up? i.e, maps for games, when you first boot your system up,.....

can u pick up hard drives and memory for laptops at a store.. say like bestbuy or frys or circut city ... or is it one of those things u have to order online to get?
