I bought the 100GB Hitachi 72K PATA. It is noticebly faster than the earlier 60GB Hitachi 72K PATA it replaced and just as quiet. I'm very happy with it.

Notebook Hardware Control after extensive trials with SpeedswitchXP and RMClock. Using NHC's monitoring replacing MobileMeter, which has been great.

It's also a matter of native font size (DPI). I have the WXGA and find it about right. I'd love to have an SXGA+ screen or even an UXGA, but my eyes aren't good enough.
